Somebody's 30!!!

Birthday Cakes from WiddlyTinks.com

Today is Michelle's birthday. The big 3-0! She always said she wanted to be married and have kids by the time she was 30...well, she met that goal with 9 days to spare!

Michelle and Josh took Jozie home yesterday. Here's hoping they get word that Kealie can come home tonight. I know that is the only "present" she wants today!

Happy Birthday Michelle! I hope it is the best one yet!

Busy and Happy!

Last week at this time I was cooped up in the family truckster heading back to the KY. This week, I am getting ready to hop back in the family truckster and head on over to the hospital.

Why the hospital? Well, to visit my twin nieces, of course!

Jozie and Kealie were born Tuesday morning. Yes, they are a little early. Jozie is 5 pounds 6 oz. and Kealie is 4 pounds 2 oz. They are currently residing in the NICU, but are progressing hourly and aren't expected to spend very long there.

My house is a wreck! I feel like we came home from vacation dropped our bags and haven't stopped since. In reality, I unpacked all day Thursday. Friday was Jimmy's birthday. Saturday I spent the day in my pajamas and did laundry all day. Unfortunately, that laundry is still sitting in my bedroom unfolded! On Sunday, I went to my sister's to check out the babies' room and visit with the very pregnant girl! We had dinner together and said our goodbyes. I planned to accompany her to a doctor's appointment on Thursday.

Monday was Jim's birthday. I planned to wake up early and make my sweet husband breakfast in bed. As I was preparing for the day, I received a phone call from Michelle that she had been admitted to the hospital and the babies would be born sooner than expected! Of course, Jim was understanding and told me to head to the hospital. He's had 40 other birthdays and wasn't too excited about celebrating anyway!

I headed to the hospital and the decision was made to have the babies on Tuesday. After making sure Michelle was comfotable and taken care of I came home to have Jim's birthday celebration. He had a lovely steak dinner on the patio and we ended the day watching some DVDs he got.

Tuesday I had dentist appointments. Michelle and I figured the babies would not make their entrance to the world until later in the afternoon so I did not cancel my appointments. Well, when I got out of the dentist chair, I had 4 missed calls and two new nieces! I spent the rest of the day at the hospital and got to visit the NICU twice! The girls are beautiful!

Today, I am cleaning my house and catching up on errands. I might even fold that laundry!

We are so excited about the new addition to our family! Please keep Michelle and her daughters in your prayers. Oh and feel free to check out Michelle's blog and give her your best wishes!

Best Friend Award

Just to keep her on her toes and make her sweat a little, I saved this award for last. The Best Friend Award goes to my best friend IRL (in real life) and in the blog world, Michelle!

Sadly, I had to leave my best friend behind in KY while we came on vacation. Of course, if she hadn't gotten herself knocked up, she could be here with me! Oh well, I guess the twins will be worth it!

Take care of my the babies and yourself! We'll be home before you know it! I love you and I miss you!

TGIF!

Whew! What a busy few days this has been! This end of the school year crunch is always so busy.

The kids are working on their final big projects for the year. Wednesday was the girls' Spring Choir Concert. It was actually really good. I wish I would have brought my camera and caught a short video. Among other things, they sang a sampling of songs from "Mama Mia!" I must admit, I do love ABBA and so does Kitty! She heard "Dancing Queen" years ago and fell in love. I gave her a CD of their greatest hits and there are many, many days that I hear that CD blaring from her room!

I have been busy with my PTA commitments. I seem to have the easiest jobs throughout the school year, but come May, I have so much work! I chair the 8th grade Dance Committee, plan the End of they Year Teachers Luncheon and pick up teacher of the year gifts and retirement gifts. Add in the fact that I'm always there to help my good friend, Madame President Brenda, attend extra meetings, field days and lunches. We just found out on Wednesday that the PTA is supposed to provide lunch for field day on the last day of school! What?!? That was news to both of us!

I have also been fighting the peer pressure to be the PTA President next year. We have had no one step up to do so and there is are a lot of requests for me to do so. I'm so glad that I am so busy right now. Otherwise, I might forget how hard things can get and say Yes! I enjoy my free time to do things around my house and run errands at my own pace.

And finally, I get to plan the twins' Michelle's baby shower for June 7.

You know that girl really needs to plan her life a little better with my schedule. Last year she got married in June and added to my end of year crunch. Now this year she goes and has a couple of babies?!? Good thing she's my sister...and best friend! All I ask is that you have the twins on August 17 and we'll call it even. Can you handle that?

OK...off I go for another day of errands. I might even get my hair cut today! I've been trying to fit that in for weeks!

I'm tired...

...and I guess I should be. I ran a half-marathon yesterday! That's 13.1 miles! It was hot and very hard, but so worth it. My brother also ran. I saw him about a mile or so into the race. We chatted for a minute and then he went ahead of me. He finished the race in 2 hours and 16 minutes! That is a great time...especially considering he just started running early this year. I came in just under 3 hours. Considering the heat, I was very happy! Michelle came out and watched us as we came out of one of the parks. She got some pretty good pics.

The start line

There's our baby bro!

And there's me! I actually stopped for a minute and talked to Michelle. She was so nice to come out so early in the morning, I couldn't just run past waving. Plus, it was time for me to take an energy gel, so it was a welcome break. This was about the 6 mile mark, I think.

So, in all it was a pretty good day. I have now completed 1/2 my goal of running a marathon!

This is going to be another busy week for us. I'm sure you've all heard of the Kentucky Derby. Well, we live just outside of Louisville where the Derby is, so the week will be filled with lots of fun family events (most are even free!) I plan on taking the kids to several events during the week. We also have the day off on Friday (yep, that's how huge the Derby is here!) I'm going to take the kids to the zoo. Hopefully the rain they are predicting will hold off until next week.

Have a great week everybody!

Copy-cat!

I'm copying part of my sister's post this morning!

Michelle posted a funny story about waking up from a nap confused last night. She frantically called me. This was our conversation...

M: "I am so sorry"
J: "Why, What's wrong?"

M: "I am supposed to be there... You're party. It's Friday.. I am so sorry"
J: "No it's not..."

M: "What"

J: "It's Thursday Michelle"

M: "Oh, oh yeah, that's right"

J: "Did you fall asleep?"
M: "Yeah at like 7:30, and just woke up... That really sucks that it's only Thursday"

J: laughing "Yeah, now you have to go back to bed and go to work tomorrow..."

What a dork! But seriously, do you ever wake up from naps confused like that? I can't really remember a time that I have done that, BUT...

Mr. T is the best at waking up confused! He has been like this his whole life. When he was little he would stumble around like a zombie after a nap! As he's gotten older, he talks about some really crazy things as he's waking up. He once told me to be quiet or I would be arrested for treason. WHAT?!?! It's great for a good laugh now and then! Just this past Tuesday he had another of his "episodes." I told this story to Michelle to make her feel better and now I'm going to share it with all of you...you know, just for a laugh!

Tuesday afternoon T and R had a track meet after school that lasted until about 8:00. We stopped at McDonald's to pick up dinner for everyone (hey, it's no big deal, it not like we had McD for dinner the night before...cough, cough). After dinner, I sent R to the shower and T headed to his room. I said, "Do NOT go to sleep, you have to take a shower tonight!" His response, "I won't." At 10:00, I headed upstairs to out the girls to bed (yes, I still "put" my kids to bed even though they're teenagers!) I went into T's room to send him to the shower. Of course, the boy was as snug as a bug, asnooze in his bed. Here is the conversation we had...

J: "MR T! I told you not to go to sleep!"
T: "I'm not asleep"

J: "Wake up and go get a shower!"

T: "OK"

J: "MR T! Wake up! You have to take a shower tonight!"

T: "OK, I'm just gonna wait a little while."

J: "Wait a little while for what?"

T: "I'm just gonna wait until my mom comes up here."

J: "I AM your mom and you need to get up!"

............... (no response)

J: "T! Get up!"

T: "Huh? What? What's going on?"

J: "I AM your mother and you need to take a shower!"

T: "GRRRR! YOU ARE SO WEIRD!" and he goes to the bathroom and slams the door.

Yes, he actually growled at me! And no, he did not take a shower. I think he just sat in the bathroom for a few minutes. He then proceeded to go back to bed! At 11:30, he came downstairs for a drink of water and had no recollection of our previous encounter! "Hey Mom, I fell asleep. I'll just take a shower in the morning," and back to bed he went.

What a goof! Like I said, he's good for a laugh! Now, let's hope he doesn't growl at me once he sees that I posted this story!

My sister

I'm sure you've realized by now that my sister and I spend a lot of time together. I thought I would properly introduce you to her today!

Michelle my Belle!

Michelle is two years younger than me and while we've had our share of ups and downs, good times and bad, loving and hating, we have always been honest with each other and have grown to become the best of friends.

Michelle married her sweetie, Josh, this past June. I was honored to be the Matron of Honor on their special day!

I got to help with all the wedding prep and hosted a lovely wedding shower. I even made her shower cake!

On her wedding day she looked beautiful!

Our hot mama is in this pic too!

And was so happy!

One of the things I love most about Michelle is that she loves my kids...all of them!

Oh and she helps me put up with these two!

See she does with a smile on her face!

Mostly, I just love her for who she is. A beautiful, smart, strong, caring and loving woman. She has one of the biggest hearts of anyone I know. She loves everyone so unconditionally, that's probably what's kept us together so long.

Oh and not to be forgotten...She comments on my blog! I love that! And, she's also started her own blog (how cute, she wants to be just like her big sister!) Go check her out sometime.

New Year's Eve Theif

That's me! These pics have all been stolen from my sister's Facebook page! I have been too lazy to blog and too lazy to download my pics. I am soaking in the warmth of the last days of the year. Too much food, too much drink (as to be illustrated in the following pics) and too much sleep!

New Year = New Me!

For now, check out this train wreck!

Prepping the party food

My family

Our best friends and favorite guests

We were a team for The Joke Game.
Notice the Margarita...

My son kept calling me drunk
and challenged me to
walk a straight line.
Not only did I do it,
but I did twice!
The second time as an Egyptian!

A New Year's Kiss! ;)

A New Year's toast!
This year's toasts were very special and touching.
(Don't worry...the kids had sparkling apple juice, like here)

A New Year's cigar!
Gimme a break,
it's only once a year and
I shared with Big Daddy

A group pic.
And I get mad when the kids won't behave?

And finally,
proof that I did take some pics myself.
Look for those in the next few days.

Til then...
Happy New Year Everyone!
With love,
