Family Dinner

I am proud to say that most nights all 6 of us have dinner at the table. We may not be eating a gourmet meal and the conversation is not always intriguing, but we are together! I believe that family dinner is one of the most important things we can give our kids and something they will always remember. Family dinner is one of my best memories from my childhood.

Sharing family dinner teaches us to value our family and also keeps us all in touch. It's a time for us teach kids to express their opinions and to truly be themselves. We feel less alone in the world when we know there are people who love and care about us, no matter what we are going through. In today's world, where kids have their own TVs, game systems, and cell phones it is important to have some family time set aside. A lot is learned through this commitment to eat together. It's important to feel that there is some sacred time where we come first to each other. I believe family dinners were one of the biggest contributions to successfully blending our families.

How often does your family "meet" at the dinner table?

I totally agree with you!

My hubby doesn't get home until 7:30, so Linlee and I eat before him. I don't know how I can get that to change as Linlee gets older.
