Writers Workshop

Today over at Kat's, she's hosting her weekly Writers Workshop. Yeah, I dropped the Mama from Mama Kat. We're tight like that now.

Anyway...

I chose Prompt #5.
Transcribe a recent entertaining conversation you recently had with someone.

Last night for dinner we had hamburgers and hot dogs with some steak fries and onion rings. Hey, I can't always cook gourmet meals!

Jim picked up the hot dogs at the grocery and these are what we had.

Since I live in a house with four (almost) teenagers, you probably won't be surprised to hear that we call hot dogs, wieners.

Ahem.

Toward the end of dinner, Rachel was looking a bit full. She still had half of her hot dog on her plate.

Upstanding, mature stepmother Me: "Are you getting full, Rach?"

Rachel: "I think so."

Me: "Don't make me tell your dad those wieners are too long for you!"

And yes, the aforementioned "upstanding and mature" step mother was the only one laughing. The. Only. One. Laughing.

In a room full of teenagers, I was the most amused. And honestly, I laughed as I wrote this. Hey, don't judge me! It was funny!

Writer's Prompts from Kat

Guess what one of Mama Kat's prompts on this week's Writer's Workshop was...

3.) What have you been busy doing that's keeping you from updating your blog? How hard is it for you to get back into the swing of blogging when you take time off?

That's all me this week...and last week too!

This prompt was inspired by Sera who's blog I have been enjoying this morning afternoon instead of posting myself!

So, what has been keeping me from updating? Well, last week was such a crazy busy week. I told you guys about that. This week I have been doing laundry and starting to pack for vacation!!!

And how hard is it for me to get back into the swing of blogging when I take time off? It's honestly pretty hard! I totally agree with Sera on this one. She said, "once I get out of the habit of blogging at least every other day I feel a bit like I lose my groove, and I feel this overwhelming responsibility to write something that is absolutely entertaining and brilliant."

I really feel like I owe you guys a picture-filled, comedy-filled, emotional post all about the Marathon and San Diego trip. It was exciting and fun, but I just can't seem to find words to describe it. I've started a post several time, but the longer I put it off the post, the more pressure I feel to make it great!

I also still have not downloaded the pictures from San Diego. In fact, I really don't have a lot of pictures. I feel pressure that I've talked about those pics that you guys might be expecting something really great!

So, here's the deal. I'm going to go load these pictures and post some tomorrow. No pressure! I know you guys don't really care what/how I post. You're my friends and you just want to hear what I've been up to!

Writer's Workshop

So, Mama Kat** hosts a Writer's Workshop each Thursday. I enjoy many of her prompts and think about writing on one of them each week. Alas, I never do. But guess what? This week I am! I am choosing Prompt #3: List ten things you are currently sick of. Hmm, a request to complain? OK, I can do that.

Ten Things That I Am Currently Sick Of
May 2009

1. My body hurting! I will be very happy when this Marathon in over. I wanted to do it. I'm glad I'm doing it. I will NEVER do it again!

2. Rain. We have had a lot of rain here in the past couple of weeks. It's been nice the past few days, but more rain is on it's way. I wish I could enjoy it like Linlee!

3. Middle School. I feel like I have been a student these last few months. I have been trying so hard to get the girls to care about and keep their grades up. I'll be happy for the summer break. Hopefully next year will be easier.

4. PTA. I love volunteering at school. I love the things I do with the PTA. I love that my friend Brenda is the president and we get to spend a lot of time together, but this end of the year crunch is overwhelming!

5. Cat boxes. And I don't mean a box full of cats, because that would be adorable!

6. Messy kids' rooms. Why can't they be more like me. I mean I'm not asking them to dust and vacuum on a daily basis, but just pick up the shit stuff all over the floor. Especially the trash! C'mon!

7. Having Braces. The pain is pretty much over. I have some really cold-sensitive teeth, but I can deal with that (especially, once I figured out I should use warm water while brushing my teeth. That only took about a week of pain to come up with. I know, I'm a genius!) The biggest complaint is I can't have tortilla chips. I miss Nachos! One day we will be together again, my love!

8. Chores. I mean I don't mind cleaning and doing laundry, but it's just when I make a list and call them chores. I can't stand doing it and then I don't.

9. Being lazy. I really am (see complaint above) Sometimes, I just lay around and do nothing all day. I usually have some kind of excuse (see complaint #1) or a headache or I just want to spend time goofing off with my sweetie!

10. Complaining. You know, unless it's me doing it!

**note: i am not obesessed with kat. although it may seem i have talked about her a lot lately, it's just because i want her to be my new best blog friend. and i wish she would read my blog everyday. and i want her to tell me how funny and pretty and smart i am. but really, it's not anything weird. if you're reading this HI KAT!**
